The ADB interface box provides the necessary intelligence between the various devices to control the AOV system. The units are located on every floor and on the top floor to control roof vents. The interface unit provides the communication between the smoke detectors, AOV actuators, call points and the output to the stair vents. Alternatively the smoke detector circuit can be connected to a fire alarm volt free module. The unit also provides a volt free contact from the stair vent unit which can be used to ground lifts or a common signal to a door entry system. The surface mounted unit is normally located in the electrical riser on each level beside the cable tray. The unit comes as a completed finished box incorporating cable glands. The floor units are known as ADB1 and require no alterations providing the necessary floor control function and signal to the stair vent box. The stair vent ADB unit requires a link to be broken in the box which converts them to an ADB2 unit. This will operate on any signal on the system and provides a volt free contact which operates for any signal on the system. Although the unit is generally used for AOV systems, it can also be used with door entry systems where localised unlocking is required or where reverse polarity or motor open motor closed control is required.
